Prague 2018 - Day 7: Return home

Return home:

We left the apartment at 9 AM, took the metro to Nádraží Veleslavín, transferred to the airport express bus, and were at the airport by 10 AM.

(Sabrina and I were a bit confused, because the green metro line didn't go this far out of the city center, last time we were there; apparently they extended it in 2015. I'm not sure how we didn't notice on the way in, a week ago.)

Our flight was delayed for over an hour, so we had some time to wander around the airport. I vaguely recalled seeing this scale model of the Charles Bridge before, so it must have been there in 2014, but I can't find any photos of it from that trip.

I guess it's supposed to entice travelers to leave the airport and see the city, if they're just connecting through Prague?

We connected in London/Gatwick, but our flight was delayed over an hour. Thankfully, our layover was originally 3 hours, so we still had enough time to collect our luggage, check into the next flight, take the train to the other terminal, and find the gate, with at least 20 minutes to spare.

I think our original plan was to eat dinner somewhere in the airport during this layover, but since it got cut short, we didn't eat. Oh, and we also forgot that we had to pre-order meals if we wanted to eat on the plane. Oops. We ate from the "hot snack" menu, and  all of our remaining snacks from the trip.

["Up for a refreshment? We'd never give you food or drinks you don't want (or want to pay for). Instead, we give you a choice." Fair enough.]

It was about a 7 hour flight, flying with the sunset the entire time. We landed at JFK just after 7 PM, transited immigration and customs, rode the air train back to the parking lot, and found a place to eat some real dinner. (La Villa, Howard Beach.)

It was probably 10 PM by the time we left the restaurant; I was the only one with a chance of staying awake, so I drove us home, via Stroudsburg to drop off a passenger. We got home around 12:30 AM, concluding a 22-hour travel day.
