St. Croix Christmas 2019: Day 1 - Arrival

We got the Terrizzi clan to agree to take a Christmas vacation this year, as long as it was somewhere warm with a beach. After careful consideration and extensive research, we settled on a 5-night jaunt to Saint Croix.

It was a brisk morning when we left New Jersey, at 4:30 AM.

All of them, except me, identify as "morning people".

By 5:15 AM, we were on the parking shuttle, headed to the terminal.

There's nothing quite like watching the sunrise over Newark airport.

We connected in Charlotte, and had plenty of time for an average breakfast before continuing to STX.

We de-planed around 5:15 PM (AST), and spent half an hour fetching luggage and the rental car.

As the sun set just before 6 PM, we navigated across the island to our oceanfront condo for the next week or so.

After settling in, we ventured out on foot to find a nearby restaurant for dinner. Along the way, we inspected the pool situation, which was quite festive.

It's going to be an early night, as we're all tired from a long day of travel that started and ended in the dark.

Tomorrow, there will be some beach, potentially some snorkling, probably a rum cocktail or two, and bountiful sunshine.
